As promised in an earlier post on the perils of our nation's future Department of Defense(DOD) budgets, here is the full MOAA report on the real impact of personnel costs. Needless to say, we have a lot more to fear from overrunning construction costs, a general lack of Congressional oversight and contracting failures then we do from properly supporting the actual military personnel and families that bear the brunt of deployments away from home in order to defend our country.
If you look at personnel costs over an extended period of time then those bogeymen of "exploding" costs quickly go away.
How about a look at overall military spending? I would guess that most people think that military spending is just eating our budget up.
Ah, that's where all the money is going. Just wait until the "savings" from the Affordable Care Act kick in.
