Dereliction of Duty: M4 issues plagued U.S. troops
Although in my military service I've never had to fire the M-4, it seems as if there have been numerous reports on its unreliability, potential editing of historical records to absolve the weapon of blame, and troops that were forced to use their own funds to make the weapon more reliable. All of the services have issues when it comes to buying ships, aircraft, etc. but it just seems callous to put front line troops out there with a weapon that is prone to fail more than an acceptable rate. If people covered this up to save money and it cost the lives of our troops, I hope that they are brought to swift justice. Our troops deserve the best if we are going to put them in harm's way.
