Thoughts on religion, politics, the military, and whatever else is interesting as we sit by and listen to the qinah.

Inter arma enim silent leges-Justice Scalia weighs in on war and civil rights
Justice Scalia, giving a talk at the U. of Hawaii Law School, made an assertion that in a time of war, our government would not hesitate to restrict and violate the civil rights of the people. In one qoute he stated, “you are kidding yourself if you think the same thing (as happened in WWII internment camps) will not happen again." Interestingly enough he said it was not a question of if, but when. With individual rights already on the retreat, this is unfortunately not a scenario that is unfathomable. I guess the only real question we are left with is whether the war that would instigate these violations was something actual or merely created by the state to further advance tyranny.
