Not only is the above statement ridiculous, but the same person "believes that World Vision can successfully remain neutral on same-sex marriage." How making a major change in your policy on hiring homosexuals gaining state sanctioning for their "marriages" is remaining neutral boggles the mind and causes the average person to believe, rightly so, that this sort of organization is so squishy on what they stand for that they can hardly be trusted with making sure money is used in a responsible way.
Remember, we are not talking about any old company that is asking for your financial support, but a CHRISTIAN company with the supposedly following core values:
Remember, we are not talking about any old company that is asking for your financial support, but a CHRISTIAN company with the supposedly following core values:
"We acknowledge one God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ, the love, mercy and grace of God are made known to us and all people. From this overflowing abundance of God’s love, we find our call to ministry.
We proclaim together, "Jesus lived, died, and rose again. Jesus is Lord." We desire him to be central in our individual and corporate life.
We seek to follow him — in his identification with the poor, the afflicted, the oppressed, the marginalized; in his special concern for children; in his respect for the dignity bestowed by God on women equally with men; in his challenge to unjust attitudes and systems; in his call to share resources with each other; in his love for all people without discrimination or conditions; in his offer of new life through faith in him. From him we derive our holistic understanding of the gospel of the Kingdom of God, which forms the basis of our response to human need.
We hear his call to servanthood and see the example of his life. We commit ourselves to a servant spirit permeating the organization. We know this means facing honestly our own pride, sin, and failure.
We bear witness to the redemption offered only through faith in Jesus Christ. The staff we engage are equipped by belief and practice to bear this witness. We will maintain our identity as Christian while being sensitive to the diverse contexts in which we express that identity."
BTW, these are great core values....and World Vision has just violated them in the following ways:
1) By claiming Jesus is Lord and then directly contradicting His words in practice.
2) In claiming to believe in the new life through faith in Christ but at the same time declaring that open sin does not require redemption and is in fact condoned.
3) Do they really mean that people must honestly face their sin and failure if you condone their behavior?
4) They in no way bear witness to the redemption in Jesus Christ if sin, in any form, is not something that the Christian should be working to mortify.
5) Lastly, their staff is not equipped by belief and practice at all, but merely by what is convenient to the times. If they are driven by belief, then what Christian belief has changed that opened up the door to this policy change.
Don't kid yourself World Vision, you are nothing more than any other humanitarian organization, valuable in its own right, but definitely not driven by core Christian principles, no matter how much you claim this is a call for unity.
