What happens when our culture embraces sin

As a Christian, we know that sin is destructive to the human being for it is a disregard for the laws of God and in that disobedience we also know that there will be consequences.  Sometimes those consequences are small, and at other times, not so much, but even the slightest sin is enough to create that separation from God which is why we need the atoning work of Christ for our salvation and the power of the Holy Spirit to live according to that holy standard. 
Although every sin that is embraced by the individual or society will have destructive consequences, the issue of our day being foisted upon us at every turn is homosexuality and so that is why we are discussing it today.  The bottom line is that homosexuality is an offense to the created order, the family, the relationship between individuals in the family, the spiritual and physical well being of individuals and ultimately destructive to the entire societal order.  When you think about this issue, take another hot button topic like abortion.  This issue is framed in the light of "women's rights" just as homosexuality is framed as a "civil rights" issue. What we have seen happen over time is that the destructive aspect of abortion including the immediate death of the baby and the physical/emotional turmoil for the mother has caused a shift in public opinion on the issue.  This change of opinion happened and continues to happen because a more judicious look at the destructive impacts vs. "women's rights" has been taken.  In the same way, the issue of homosexuality will likewise follow this same path.  At some point the publicity effort parading around the best that homosexuality has to offer in order to convince the general populous that "gay people are just the same as you and me" will fall apart when its own inherent destructive aspects become more commonplace.  We know this is the case because no matter what the sinful behavior, you cannot cover darkness forever.  The only question for America will be, will the acceptance of homosexuality as normal implode first, or will it be something that the entire culture cannot overcome.
