Fool me once shame on you...

In a not so startling reversal of course, World Vision has decided to reverse their two day old policy on acceptance of "married homosexuals" into the workforce.  Are these people kidding and will the Christians that pushed back against them be so gullible as to just join hands and go on as if nothing happened.  Sure, everyone makes mistakes and there is always room for wrong decisions to be corrected, but I will leave that decision up to you as intelligent readers whether you are buying what WV is selling.  As someone who has supported WV in the past, I will go on the record as saying I have little confidence in an organization that defends its policy positions in the following way.
The first quote, ""We shouldn't have been surprised but we were a bit," Stearns said of the backlash. "Again, I think it goes back to we hadn't done enough consultation on this. We hadn't vetted this issue with people who could have given us really valuable input in the beginning. In retrospect, I can see why this was so controversial and troubling for many of our partners and supporters."  I'm sorry, but it doesn't matter how much consultation and vetting they do, the bottom line is that they decided to take a decidedly historical unbiblical position and make it a part of their hiring policy.  In the end, it doesn't matter how troubling it is to any person, they either believed they were following Christ in making their decision or they were not.  According to their own statements, their hiring policy was a desire to bridge Christian unity.  We are all still waiting to hear how they could biblically defend that position.
The second quote, "The agency had announced Monday that its board had prayed for years about whether to hire Christians in same-sex marriages."  I'd like to take them on face value, but really, does World Vision sit around and pray about all of the ways in which they can rationalize the institutionalization of sin into their organization.  To believe that this has been going on for years and that in response to their prayer God convinced them to violate His own standards of marriage between a man and woman is just beyond belief.
Lastly, "Stearns said the board unanimously voted to reverse course and "stand on the traditional belief on the authority of Scripture." I'm confused, so what was the basis for the board's previous decision if now they are leaning on the traditional belief in the authority of Scripture?  Ah, that's right, World Vision opted for the authority of man over that of Scripture which, by their own admission is where they now find themselves not because of any real conviction, but because it hurt their bottom line.
The bottom line is that a majority of the board for World Vision does not believe what you believe concerning marriage and no matter what public reversal on this policy they take, the message that matters most to them is how much money they can take in without alienating either their private donors or the 18% of donations they receive in public support.  For me, I'd rather they just be honest and quit trying to play both sides of the fence.
