In case you were wondering where our government is spending your money, here is a perfect case of waste. NASA has sponsored this great study on "A Minimal Model for Human Nature Interaction." I know the question you are asking, how does this help support the vision of NASA which is to "reach for new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn will benefit all humankind." Don't worry, the NASA of your parents is no longer concerned with such mundane tasks as going to the moon, Mars, etc. What we really need is another government organization telling us how resource depletion and income inequality are a precursor to the impending doom of civilization.
If you don't believe me, check out these quotes from the abstract and conclusion. First, from the abstract we have the following, "There are widespread concerns that current trends in population and resource use are unsustainable, but the possibilities of an overshoot and collapse remain unclear and controversial. Collapses have occurred frequently in the past five thousand years, and are often followed by centuries of economic, intellectual, and population decline. Many different natural and social phenomena have been invoked to explain specific collapses, but a general explanation remains elusive. Two important features seem to appear across societies that have collapsed: (1) Ecological Strain and (2) Economic Stratification." And in the conclusion we have the following, "In sum, results of our experiments, discussed in section 6, indicate that either one of the two features apparent in historical societal collapses over-exploitation of natural resources and strong economic stratification can independently result in a complete collapse. Given economic stratification, collapse is very difficult to avoid and requires major policy changes, including major
reductions in inequality and population growth rates."
You really have to view the entire report to get the full gist of the amount of equations/graphs/technical speaking jargon are used to draw the ever popular conclusion among the progressive elites today that income inequality and pillaging of the environment are leading the entire planet towards impending doom. Don't let me forget the obligatory attack on the human race in the conclusion decrying population growth. Sad but true, I guess we won't be reaching for new heights but merely revealing the unknown depths of idiocy trying to pass for intellectual conversation.
